Statement Coats

Oh hey, beautiful. It’s statement coat season!

If you despise the cold like me, raise your hand. You know the only good that comes of this treacherous weather is the fashion like booties, scarves, sweaters, and statement coats.

I nabbed this cute and comfy hooded leopard print jacket at a H&M in New York last year and it was literally one of the greatest purchases I’ve ever made. Found it on a sale rack for $15!

I actually forgot it was in my closet until a friend pulled out her lil leopard print number recently and I was inspired to rock mine.

A statement coat can be defined as any outerwear that puts an exclamation on an outfit. It needs no introduction and can fend for itself.

I wanted to add a little flair to my look though, so I slipped into this neon green Zara pumps – also found on sale for $10!!!

Moral of the story, you can still be cute while shivering. And you certainly don’t have to break the bank to make a statement.

What I Wore: Statement Coat Edition

Do you know why I love the holiday season? It’s not because I get to see family and old friends and eat a bunch of food, it’s because the retail world saw an opportunity for mass marketing! Call me crazy but who doesn’t love a good sale?

Although Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the biggest sales days of the year, retailers keep the sales momentum going from mid-November to mid-January. My motto is: never pay full price for anything!

Now I say all this to say, be on the lookout for great deals on outerwear this season. I scored this awesome Rachel Roy statement coat at Macy’s for 40% off. Actually, my wonderful mother decided to buy it for me as an early Christmas present. Thanks Mumma!
