We’re almost there. Just one month and…que summer! Summer calls for sunshine, tan lines, and bright colors. Oh, and white. Like Selena Gomez sings, “Tan skin looks damn good in white.” She’s not lying. 😉
Before summer officially hits, now is the perfect time to prep your wardrobe for scorching days and sassy nights. Pre-summer wardrobes can consist of monochrome ensembles and pops of color. It’s like giving just a little tease before you go all out in hot pants and lace up sandals.
For a fun girl’s night out, me and my girl Tina went with subtle hints of summer just so ya know it’s coming! It’s also the perfect time to splurge on pieces that will carry you throughout summer. You may also be able to catch a few pre-season sales.
Find ways to hint at the upcoming season before the weather officially changes. Cold shoulder tops and off the shoulder tops are the perfect prelude to summer. Pair the right shoes and accessories, and you have a great pre-summer look.

I’ve had my eye on this Boom crew neck sweatshirt by Philip Lim ever since the lookbook photos were released. So of course it was the item I had to snag when the 3.1 Philip Lim collection for Target hit stores. However, I was somewhat disappointed in the other pieces. Perhaps it was the Target location I went to but some of the garments looked tired and thrown together. And because this collaboration included menswear I was very enthused, but the selection for men was quite boring in person. The variety of choices for both men and women are greater online, thankfully but the in-store selection was bland.
But nonetheless I do love the Boom piece so I wanted to share how I chose to style it; reminding you all that leopard print CAN act as a solid because leopard is the new black.
Beauty bonus: I added a hat and a lazy fishtail braid to complete the look.
What pieces did you get from the 3.1 Philip Lim for Target collection?
