Getting Ready For Spring: 10 Clothing Trends

It will soon be time to kiss goodbye to winter! Not only does this mean we are saying adios to awful weather, but also the need to wrap up warm as well. Fashion often takes a backseat during the colder months, as our main concern is the freezing temperatures. But this is no longer the case when Spring arrives! So, you need to be prepared. Here are ten things that should be in your spring wardrobe…

2019 spring fashiontrends

1. Wide-Leg Trousers

Skinny jeans have been in fashion for years and years now. However, wide-leg trousers offer a welcomed alternative for the months ahead. Not only do they look great, but they are extremely comfortable too. They give your legs room to breathe and their effortlessly sleek style is ideal for a cool summer look. This is a garment you will get a lot of use out of throughout spring and summer.

2. Squares

Every year we have a new pattern that comes to the fore, and this time that pattern is squares. It doesn’t matter whether you purchase clothing with a cheesecloth pattern or you opt for a grid design, if squares are incorporated in the print you should definitely be rocking it.

3. Pastels

You won’t find a trend more consistent than pastel colors. Every spring lovely lilacs, mint greens, and baby blues appear on the market. But, who’s complaining? Pastel playsuits, like Petal & Pup Playsuits, are a must for the spring months ahead.

4. Jewels

It is time to lavish in all things jewels and crystals! Look for clothing boasting stunning and sparkly embellishment. This is ideal for those warm summer nights when you are attending a special event or going out for cocktails with the girls.

5. Full Skirts

This trend is super fun and super feminine! Full skirts bring you in at the waist and so they can be extremely flattering. Full-length skirts have been popular on the runway, but it is advisable to go for a midi skirt instead. A full midi-skirt is much more wearable – from garden parties to office attire, you can’t go wrong.

6. Pink

The color pink was actually a massive trend throughout the winter months. Light and dusty shades gave off a beautiful winter wonderland feel. However, this trend has progressed for the upcoming seasons. Fashion is embracing more vivid shades, such as fuchsia.

7. Bohemian

Bohemian styles often make an appearance during the summer period. Thankfully it is a trend that is certain to be embraced this year! The great thing about this laid-back style is the fact that you can look runway ready without having to put in much effort. Comfy and fashionable – the perfect combo!

8. Lace

Lace shirts, lace skirts, lace dresses… lace is taking the fashion industry by storm. This trend is beautiful, intricate, and elegant. Light colors, such as ivory and pale pink, are ideal for creating a pretty look. However, why not mix it up and go for a bold shade instead? A vivid color will put a quirky and summery stamp on this trend.

9. Shoulders out!

A lot of women don’t like wearing a completely strapless top or dress, as they feel uncomfortable or lacking in support. Luckily, ‘shoulders out’ can be interpreted in many different ways. Look for clothes with one-sleeve or an off the shoulder design instead.

10. White Blouse

A white blouse may seem like a boring trend to finish this post on! However, this is certainly not the case. If you look at clothing websites over the coming months you will notice that white shirts and blouses have had a makeover. From quirky patterns to stunning embellishments, white blouses definitely aren’t going to be boring this year!

So there you have it, the top ten trends in fashion for the sunnier months ahead! What one is your favorite? Are you going to embrace your girly side and be pretty in pink? Or do you prefer the laid back bohemian style? No matter what option you go for, you are guaranteed to have eyes on you for all of the right reasons when rocking one of these stunning trends!

Sunday Funday in Detroit

We all know global warming is bad for the planet but who doesn’t love a great sunny day in the midst of winter? SUNday Funday takes on a whole new meaning when temperatures hit above 40 degrees in January!

The weather this past weekend was pretty fab so a friend and I played tourists on our home turf and hit Lumen for some lunch and libations.

In case you’re in the Detroit area during winter, make sure to stop by Lumen and experience an igloo. Igloos are first come, first serve but community seating based on the number of people in your party. Either way, it’s a fun (heated) experience. A full menu is served in the igloos which come equipped with heaters and furry blankets.

Another great thing about global warming – you get to step out of your stuffy boots and puffy coats. I’m not at all a fan of cold weather so any time I can throw on something cute, colorful and technically made for warmer temps, I’m all about it. Hence, sporting my new Adidas Falcons (thanks to bae 😉😘). BTW, these Adidas Falcon sneakers are super comfy and fun. They come in multiple color ways and are decently affordable for a specialty shoe.

Get out. Have fun. Explore your home town. And look fab while doing it!

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Snow is falling, lights are twinkling, and Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas” is playing on every other radio station. You know what that means – Christmas is around the corner! I’m not one to fall on the Christmas bandwagon as soon as the click strikes midnight on November 1st; but now that it’s nearing mid-December, I am starting to get in the Christmas spirit.

I have become someone who believes that things will happen when they are supposed to happen. No need to rush things. It kind of goes for Christmas too. As a society we’ve started celebrating the holiday earlier and earlier each year. We all know when the ACTUAL day of Christmas will come, yet we stress and scurry to buy gifts and toys, decorate and even play Christmas tunes. We even sometimes forget that Jesus is the real reason for the season.

You ever heard the saying good things come to those who wait? Yup. Wait for things to happen, don’t rush them and good will come. Just like the joy of Christmas morning. It’s coming, it will be great, but no need to rush it.

Outfit Details:

Overall Dress – Forever 21

Cold Shoulder Sweater – Fashion Nova

But in the spirit of the season, I wish you all a happy holiday – whatever you celebrate. 🙂

Should You Ever Gift Clothing For Christmas?

So, you’ve seen the cutest dress that you think would look absolutely stunning on your best friend. However, you end up procrastinating, overthinking and leaving the store without making a purchase. Why? The chances are you worried about getting the right size, wondering about whether she would actually like it, and if then she would feel pressured to wearing something she didn’t like every time she saw you. Fashion is a huge industry, but it doesn’t tend to provide presents for us to give others. With Christmas fast approaching, take a look at these sorts of fashionista gifts you could think about giving to your nearest and dearest.

Remove The Stress

If you don’t know your sister’s size, you don’t know the trouser length for your dad, or you simply have no clue what color to purchase for your best friend, consider buying a gift voucher for a store instead. This way, the intended recipient can have their pick of pieces. At best, your sibling or pal will be ecstatic wondering the aisles, trying on attire and picking their perfect outfit. At worst, you have got it completely wrong, and they may have to think, where on Earth is there a gift card kiosk near me to swap the voucher for cash. In any case, the thought will be there, and the person with the voucher ends up with what they want.

Accessories

You don’t have to go for the big ticket items to gift some fashionable attire this festive season. Choosing clothing can be a personal thing, and some people don’t like to be given a dress, some jeans or a top as a present. However, if you go for something a little more subtle that can accessorize an outfit, then you will have more chance of success. Why not take a look at a scarf, a designer belt or eco-friendly socks. These smaller stocking fillers are less offensive and can be the most thoughtful gifts to give.

Investigate

If you are dead set on purchasing a new coat for your loved one or you know that your brother desperately needs a new suit, then you need to investigate. Drop subtle hints and ask the necessary questions so you can find out their preferred styles, the colors they love and, most importantly, their size. There’s no point going to all the effort of getting a stunning designer three piece suit if the trousers are too long and the jacket won’t do up. Heading to the high street to buy clothing for others is exciting but a tad intimidating. Remember to purchase what you think the recipient would like, not what you think they should like, and you shouldn’t go far wrong.

Fashion is a fickle creature. What is on trend this month might not be next month. As such, people’s opinions, likes and dislikes change quickly too. If you are willing to take the fashion plunge, don’t be alarmed if your gift is met with a pleasant smile and a request for the receipt. Buying clothes to gift is a risky business, but it might just be worth it.

5 Reasons You Should Shop Online This Holiday Season

With Christmas just around the corner your mind has started to wander towards gift buying and shopping. Every single year you put on your wooly hat and head to your local town center to brave the Christmas crowds. This year you should think about embracing online shopping, because there are arguably way more advantages to this method of retail therapy. Instead of getting caught up in unnecessary sale items you can actually start shopping for the things you really need. Check out these five reasons to shop online this festive season.

1. There is So Much More On Offer

The online world is bursting with amazing designers and independent businesses that should be supported. When you buy from an online store such as adina’s jewels, you are helping a small business meet their goals. In addition to this, there is so much more on offer online compared to your run of the mill high street stores. Find unique pieces of jewelry that will excite your friends and family, instead of the same old pieces that can be found everywhere.

2. You Don’t Have To Brave the Crowds

There is nothing worse than trying to push your way through a crowded town center to get to the shop you need, not to mention the winding queues at the checkout. Stay comfy and cozy in your own home and use your computer to get everything done this year. You’ll be grateful that you haven’t got to battle through the hustle and bustle with all of your bags!

3. It’s Cheaper

Believe it or not online shopping can be much cheaper than heading to the high street. As long as you have the right will power and are open to returning things if they’re not quite right, you will definitely be saving money. Retailers like to draw you into special offers and place clever items at the checkout to make you buy more. When you shop online you aren’t as exposed to all of this so you can stick to your list much more easily.

4. The Perfect Solution for a Busy Person

Like most people in the modern world, you don’t actually have time to head out to the shops to purchase all of your Christmas presents. The beauty of shopping online is that you can do it whenever and wherever you want! Whether you’re making a purchase on the bus to work or you’re tapping away at your phone during a lunch break, you can get everything done without having to disturb your busy schedule.

5. You Can Bulk Buy

There is nothing worse than heading to the shops and being overloaded with shopping bags. You start to sweat and your hands feel like they are about to drop off. You can buy heavier or bulkier items online without having to stress about carrying them all the way home!

So log onto your favorite store on your phone or fire up your laptop, because online shopping is definitely the way forward this Christmas.

Statement Coats

Oh hey, beautiful. It’s statement coat season!

If you despise the cold like me, raise your hand. You know the only good that comes of this treacherous weather is the fashion like booties, scarves, sweaters, and statement coats.

I nabbed this cute and comfy hooded leopard print jacket at a H&M in New York last year and it was literally one of the greatest purchases I’ve ever made. Found it on a sale rack for $15!

I actually forgot it was in my closet until a friend pulled out her lil leopard print number recently and I was inspired to rock mine.

A statement coat can be defined as any outerwear that puts an exclamation on an outfit. It needs no introduction and can fend for itself.

I wanted to add a little flair to my look though, so I slipped into this neon green Zara pumps – also found on sale for $10!!!

Moral of the story, you can still be cute while shivering. And you certainly don’t have to break the bank to make a statement.

My Skincare Routine

I’m putting the B back in F.A.B Cocktail! I realized I don’t touch on Beauty much, so I wanted to share something with you that’s been on my mind.

I had a conversation the other day about makeup and how I don’t particularly love it. If I do wear anything, it’s either bronzer (I live for a sunkisssd look), mascara (Enhancing my eyelashes is where it’s at), or lipstick (Hello, red lip is life). I strongly believe in showcasing your natural beauty, minimally.

Now don’t get me wrong, makeup is an amazing tool and the application process is literally an art form, so I commend those who have the patience and diligence to apply a full face daily. But it’s just not my cup of tea.

There was a point though, when I secretly wanted so badly to wear makeup because my skin was getting bad. I had frequent breakouts and no skincare regime would seem to work. I wanted to apply whatever I could to cover up the imperfections. But I had to stop and say, you’re beautiful just the way you are. And through trial and error, I finally found a routine that worked for me.

These three products are applied to my face daily for smooth, sometimes glowy skin. Breakouts sometimes do still occur but typically I only see them now about a week before my menstrual cycle begins. I start each morning with a towelette to get rid of any dirt or oil. It’s also really refreshing, giving me a little boost in the AM. I then apply a dollop of the face cream. It has SPF so it’s great for the summertime, too. Then I finish it off with a few spritz of rose spray to give me a smooth, dewy look. The rose spray is also a great little pick-me-up for the mornings.

So friends. Keep on doing whatever it is you’re doing to make you happy but just know, what God gave you is beautiful too!
