A Guide to Creating a Wardrobe You Love

March 14, 2016

Creating a wardrobe you really love is important. If you want to keep your clothes for as long as possible, feel confident in your look and have fun with your style, then you need to make sure you like what you’re wearing. Too many people buy throw away fashion these days, and end up hating their wardrobes. This guide will help you to create a wardrobe that you love:
Don’t Follow Trends
Why would you want to follow trends based on what somebody else has said is fashionable? Avoid following trends unless you really absolutely love the trend you’re following. Otherwise you’ll have something in your wardrobe that you just don’t get your wear out of after a certain amount of time. Create your own fashion trends and you’ll like your wardrobe much more!
Know What Suits You
Knowing what suits you will stop you from buying things that you instantly regret. Know the shapes and colours that look good against your skin tone and on your body. You don’t necessarily need to stick to a set of ‘rules’. If you’re confident wearing something, then by all means wear it. Knowing what suits you will just make shopping much easier and dressing even better.
Don’t Buy on a Whim
Ideally, you shouldn’t buy clothes on a whim. When you go clothes shopping, make a list of things you have in mind to help keep you on track. Then, every item in your wardrobe has a purpose. You won’t end up with an item you wear once or not at all. Only buy clothing if you feel something is missing or you really need something.
Look at Vintage Clothing
Vintage clothing is amazing, because you can pretty much guarantee that nobody else will have what you have. Not only that, it’s far more economical. Vintage clothing is beautiful and full of character, whatever era you choose to buy from. You can buy vintage items online or in person from lots of great retailers. Just make sure that the item you’re buying is genuine, and check it for damage before purchasing.
Invest in High End Clothing
If you prefer new clothing, it could be a good idea to invest your money in higher end brands rather than ‘throw away’ fashion. These items will last longer and you’ll really be able to get your wear out of them. You can usually find amazing brands that aren’t too expensive, like Abaya.
Make Sure Your Colours/Patterns/Styles Can be Interchanged
When buying clothing, make sure the colours, patterns, and styles you buy can be interchanged. If you do this, you’ll have a ton of outfit options and you’ll always be able to throw something cool together. Try to maybe stick to a certain type of colour palette. Having a wardrobe full of pattern can be fun, but it can also be difficult to put things together. Be sensible with your buys!
Hopefully this helps you to create a wardrobe you really love. Happy shopping!
