Christian Siriano is one American designer who really knows how to capture the true artistic essence of fashion and use it to create RTW collections with a couture demeanor.
In his 10th collection, Siriano used Russian influence paired with theatrical-like production making this one of the best shows seen at New York Fashion Week this season.
It all began with a well-produced track by Brad Walsh featuring opera singer Ilene Pabon. The stage was obviously set for something great as red velvet curtains and shiny chandeliers hung from the ceilings of Eyebeam Studio. As the lights went up, the first look to walk out was all black everything setting the tone for a deep and meaningful collection. As more looks came out, fur, leather and gold were added to the garments. There were pants suits, cocktail dresses and evening gowns. These are typical Sirano collection inclusions but there was something different about this one.
Maybe it was the Russian inspiration or the dramatically cut peplum, or the fabric detailing with a European feel, or the surprising pop of pink mid-collection. Or perhaps it was the two sheer dresses with amazingly crafted gold bead detailing.
