The Beach Detroit

March 12, 2019

The Beach. It was so fun it deserved a blog post!

If you follow Fabcocktail, you’ll know I’m all about interactive art. So when I found out The Beach was coming to Detroit, I had to jump on it.

The Beach is essentially a giant ball pit that simulates a beach. It’s a refreshing “getaway” in the heart of downtown Detroit that let’s you release your inner kid all while reminiscing of sunny days on the beach.

Created by artists snarkitecture, Library Street Collective has brought this interactive work of art to the D. Swimming in a giant pit of balls is not typically something you think about doing but it’s brining in crowds from all age groups. This interactive exhibit will be here until April 14. Be sure to reserve your spot online.

Pro Tips:

  1. Be prepared to get a mini workout in. Navigating through the balls wasn’t as easy as I thought!
  2. You can bring your own floaty but there are several on hand and they make for super cute photos!
  3. The Beach is not responsible for any lost items. HOLD ON TO YOUR YOU PHONES.
  4. Want to make those photos pop? Wear lots of color! The beach is essentially a blank canvas with impeccable lighting.
