How to become an influencer

If you’ve been following along, you know I was accepted into the wonderful LIKEtoKNOW.it and RewardStyle family as an influencer. This was not a small feat as it was hard work to get where I am today. And I still have more work to do, my friends.

Lots of time, blood, sweat, and tears went into my influencer status but I am extremely proud of where I’m going! Ok, no blood or sweat but probably a few tears were shed. So how did I get here? Again, lots and lots of work! I was turned down my first try but I did my research and figured out how to become accepted into the LIKEtoKNOW.it family and I want to share a few tips with you fabulous friends here on the blog.

4 Tips to Become a LIKEtoKNOW.it Influencer

1. You have to want it

First things first, you have to WANT it. There’s no getting accepted and little to no work to be done after that. It’s an ongoing process. Lots of time and effort is put into creating content, linking products, writing captions, promoting your profile and getting people to purchase what you’re essentially selling. If you like making money, then you have to put in the work.

2. You don’t need thousands of Instagram followers

One misconception I do want to clear up though, is that you need a K next to your follower count (ie 15.5K followers). Thousands of Instagram followers doesn’t equal influencer. LIKEtoKNOW.it and RewardStyle want people who have created a trusted community, even micro influencers (less than 10K followers). While there are some minimums of what you’ll need to get accepted, you need to play to your strengths when it comes to this part of the application process. You’ll see they ask your monthly blog visitors, follower count, YouTube information, Pinterest engagement and so on. I know where I’m lacking but I’ve also become a big data geek in the process. My numbers are strongest on Instagram and Pinterest so I used these to platforms to apply. Note: you’ll need to provide information for at least two platforms in order for your application to be reviewed.

Once you submit your information to become an influencer on the LIKEtoKNOW.it platform, it may take some time to get feedback. My first go around took about three weeks to receive my “no” but the second time, I received a glorious “yes” within about two weeks.

3. NOW is the time to apply, not later

While some states are slowly opening back up during the Pandemic, many, like mine here in Michigan will be staying home for a little bit longer. So now is the perfect time to try your hand at being accepted into the LIKEtoKNOW.it influencer program. I’ve learned so much in the few short months of being on the platform and I’m excited to learn even more.

4. Can’t stop, won’t stop

And let me tell you, once you make your first sale, it’s like the can’t stop, won’t stop mentality kicks in. You’re basically making money promoting the things YOU love. I also want to mention that your follower count on the platform doesn’t mean that much either. I have less than 20 followers right now but have made multiple sales. Based on the items you tag, you’ll receive a certain commission on that item. And if you’re tagging the right products, posting on a regular basis, and including the right hashtags, people will find you and buy.

LIKEtoKNOW.it may not be for everyone but if you have the opportunity, seize it. Who doesn’t love making money? Good luck, my fabulous friends! I hope this helps even just a little bit. xoxo
