Words cannot express how thankful I am for the opportunity to spend a wonderful weekend with a wonderful group of girls! I was invited by NY-based digital agency, DBA to join women’s clothing retailer Maurices for a girl’s Harvest weekend. We celebrated the beauty in fall and convened in the name of fashion!
Because Maurice’s is well-known in the Midwest, the organizers of this lovely girls only harvest weekend chose to hold the event in Grand Rapids Michigan. Being from MI, I surprisingly have only been to Grand Rapids once so this was exciting in itself. There were four bloggers invited, including myself, and we all got to bring a friend!
I chose to bring my friend and fraction twin Taryn and upon arrival to the 100-year-old Bed and Breakfast where we stayed we were greeted by a quaint atmosphere and gifts! A little history about The Leonard at Logan House B&B, it was built as a wedding present for the original owner’s daughter. Best present ever!
We settled in, were introduced to the other wonderful bloggers then headed to dinner at Grove Restaurant. Dinner was a great time as we bonded over our love of taking photos of our food and selfies, of course! Plus, dinner was delicious. We had a three-course meal and once the first course arrived all of us girls were silent other than “mmmmm” and “this is delicious!” And delicious it was. My favorite dish had to be the pumpkin raviolis. It was both sweet and savory and kept within the theme of the weekend – harvest. If you are ever in Grand Rapids, I certainly recommend checking out Grove and if you need a place to stay, I encourage you to stay at Logan House where the food is scrumptious and the beds are incredibly comfy.
Day two was a fun-filled adventure around GR that kicked off with cooking class with The Canning Diva. We got the chance to make canned strawberry sundae and apple curry chutney. I had never thought about canning before now but actually getting the chance to make delicious treats and learning the interesting science of the canning process was a very cool. And let me tell you, the goodies we made were incredibly tasty! The Canning Diva laid out a beautiful table spread so we could taste our edibles. I am a closet foodie so I also appreciated learning that pairing chutney with Brie cheese and strawberry sundae with goat cheese is a wonderful idea.
Post cooking, it was time to taste some spirits. We arrived at Robinettes for a wine tasting where we were able to try six different wines. If you know me, you know I’m a beer drinker but these wines really did make my taste buds happy. I even purchased a bottle of Robin White Table Wine. Wine tasting then lead to lunch and a photo shoot.
But sadly the Maurice’s Girl’s Harvest weekend come to a close. We said our goodbyes but left in great, fashionable spirits. Maurice’s and DBA provided us girls a wonderful platform to bond and fall in love with the clothes the brand carries. I personally appreciate the opportunity in that I was able to meet several bloggers with their own unique personal style and explore new it areas in Michigan. The weekend also expanded my horizons as a blogger. So thank you so much to Maurices and DBA for selecting me to attend! 🙂
Meet all the beautiful bloggers I spent time with and stay tuned to find out what I wore and what fabulous goodies I received!
