Art Basel has been an event of interest for me for some time now and it finally happened. I finally experienced Art Basel in Miami! If you have something on your bucket list, or something you’ve been wanting to do, what are you waiting for? DO IT!
Thanks to my better half, Jamarr, for suggesting the day trip to Miami, we were enthralled in art all day long and it was a magical experience. And for those asking, I unfortunately did not witness the Art Basel Banana.
What we did witness though, was art forms of all kinds. I am particularly drawn to modern and contemporary art. Statement art is always interesting to look at but above all, I love a good mural. Wynwoood was especially great for wall art, murals, and graffiti.
We even discovered a great new bar that had only been opened for a few weeks called Grails Sports Bar. This is a sneaker themed bar paying homage to all the great sneakers from Air Jordans to the famous Adidas Superstar Shell Toes.
There was so much to do and so much to see we were only able to cover so much ground but thankfully we kicked the weekend off in Fort Lauderdale and experienced an exhibit called “HAPPY!”at NSU Art Museum. Hands down one of the best art exhibits I have seen. It gave me all the feels. It made me think, it made me laugh, it even made me cry. “HAPPY!” will be at NSU now through July 2020. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the Fort Lauderdale area.
Have you attended Art Basel in Miami? Maybe next time we’ll experience Art Basel in another country.
